MARTIN'S VINTAGE BMW MOTORCYCLES

I  love Vintage  BMW  motorcycles. My first  BMW was a 1961 R27 that I purchased in 1963. In 1966 I sold the R27 and bought a 1966 R60. I am still wanting to kick myself for ditching the R27. I do still own and ride the R60. In March of 1999, I decided that I wanted an R69S. I was fortunate to find a 1969 R69S in beautiful, unrestored, near mint condition with only 19,200 miles on the odometer. It does have a few non-standard chrome plated parts that I am restoring back to original. Even though I thought that it looked neat, the chrome plated tool box cover in the photo has already been replaced. Some Vintage Junkies may cringe, but for safety reasons, those chintzy Albert mirrors had to go and have been replaced with a higher quality, German made set of Bunns available from Vechorik's Bench Mark Works. The R69S is the US model with telescopic forks and I'm having some difficulty getting used to this "bouncy" setup after running around on Earles forks for 36 years.
